Once in a Blue Moon

Interestingly we finished and posted Monika Dery’s virtual tour on the day of August’s blue moon.  Big skies and rare vistas are not uncommon when you live in the Rockies.  Monika’s studio is located there.  Inspired by the mountains and lakes of home she creates all kinds of wonderful things…on just about any medium you can imagine.

Rice paper and wax evolve into landscapes and florals.

I am constantly experimenting with “mark-making” and painting techniques on various types of rice paper, Kraft paper, hardboard, styrofoam, plexiglas…and any support that paint or wax might adhere to. My newest creations are folding screens with laminated paintings that allow the light to shine through. These exciting artforms are reflected in the galleries on this website. You’ll find everything from watercolour to encaustic“, says Monika.  You can email Monika at derymonika @ gmail.com

Always searching for new ways to work with glass or found materials or paper and ink…her studio is not to missed when trekking in Alberta!

Monika is #6 on the Alberta Artography map.

Check out her ‘virtual visit’ video and then go trekkin’!
